In the aftermath of Hurricane Mitch, one of the biggest natural disasters to hit
Central America in this century, the Salvation Army is helping local residents and
volunteers in Honduras, Nicaragua, Guatemala, Costa Rica and Mexico.
The Salvation Army is aiding the government of Guatemala in emergency response.
In Costa Rica more than 5,000 people have been provided safe shelter and aid.
SATERN is operating an emergency radio network to relay information and emergency
needs between Central and North America.
